Liberals and Progressives that shape the Democratic Party are gearing up all over the country for Obamas second term run. They are preparing to take on an ever growing and incredibly educated movement they call the Tea Party. Boy, are they in for a surprise. This movement is a lot bigger than the Tea Party. It should be called The TeaFar Movement and it could conceivably be 30 million strong. This is the new name for what we have often called “the sleeping giant” in America. You know the one. The one made up of all the people who are busy working 7:30 to 5:00, often listening to Rush and Glenn on a daily drive then home to prepare and have dinner with their kids after softball, karate of soccer practice. They are soccer moms of the 80’s and Mini Van Dad’s of the 90’s. They are Democrats, Independents and Republicans and their total girth makes the Democratic Party look like a bunch of scurrying ants just sprayed with Raid. They don’t have time to Rally in Washington so they watch the Tea Party from Afar, getting their name, the TeaFar Movement.
If you don’t believe the TeaFar Movement exists just look at the CNN ratings that came out latre last year. From the New York Times, “For the quarter, Mr. (Anderson) Cooper dropped 42 percent in viewers and 46 percent among the 25-to-54-year-old audience that the news channels use for their sales to advertisers”. How about this, “At the same time, Fox News, which had its biggest year in 2010, continues to add viewers. Greta Van Susteren’s show was up 25 percent from a year earlier. Bill O’Reilly, whose show commands the biggest audience in prime time with 3.65 million viewers, was up 28 percent, and Glenn Beck was up 50 percent from a year earlier. Although Glenn, I hate to break it to you because I love you, nobody is going to their computer to watch your new network. Please come back to TV.
These numbers don’t lie. Numbers like this scare the heck out of the Liberal Elite. These people watching and following the Tea Party from afar will come out in force in November too. The next 13 months are going to be fun to watch, especially now that I’m a part of this new TeaFar Movement. I wonder how many SEIU, Acorn and MoveOn.org supporters they have to block the polling place doors. My guess is not enough. http://www.cleanhouse.org
